Comments

The "Ostrich of South America" lives in a community where monogamous union is not the rule. After elaborate displays and somewhat vicious fight with others, a male will mate with about seven females, each of which will do so with several males. Up to 30 eggs may be laid, which will be incubated solely by the male.
